Syllabus
Dear Parents,
Parents if you would like a printed copy please email me or have your student see me during class.
This class is unlike any art class your scholar has taken; it is based in technology and focused on creative careers. We will be working on projects that connect the skills learned in 6th grade; including the elements of art and the principles of design, with new art forms like graphic design, animation, digital photography, and more. Higher education and future vocations are requiring our scholars to know how to visually communicate in a digital world, and this class is an introduction to those skills.
Please take a look at the syllabus, talk with your scholar about expectations, follow the links to sign forms, and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

About Me
I am a Gloversville resident, with two teenagers, both of which attended GMS.
I have worked for GESD since 2013; as a substitute teacher, a certified teaching assistant, Odyssey of the Mind coach and coordinator, and yearbook advisor. I have an Associates of Arts and Science degree in Visual Communications Technology and Graphic Arts, a Bachelors of Science degree in Communications and Media Design, am at Adelphi University for a Masters in Arts Education.
I taught Advanced Film and Studio Art (AP, Advanced) for Niskayuna, as well as over a decade of experience working in graphic design and marketing for companies like STERIS and GE Healthcare.
I am really looking forward to sharing my love of art and technology with your child, and have worked hard to create an engaging curriculum and comfortable classroom environment. My goal is to teach standards in two ways, using project-based learning and student choice, to enhance projects. These philosophies foster creativity, student engagement, and opportunities for scholars to think outside the box and develop critical thinking skills while understanding their strengths and artistic preferences. If you want scholars who can solve real-world problems in exciting and innovative ways, you have to teach them the methods and rules while allowing them space to explore and investigate, to push boundaries. Allow students room to innovate!
