GESD IPAD FAQ and Tutorial

Make sure you have closed all the Ipad applications and tabs in Google and Safari you do not need. Make sure YOU (not your brother or sister or parents) are signed in to Proxy Settings, Google, Hello ID, and Google in Safari. If you have done this and problems continue, turn the device off and turn it back on. To turn the device off you must hold down the button, you cant just click it. Once you have turned it back on make sure YOU are signed into the accounts listed above. Specific log in directions are below.

Question: Has your child recently switched from GEO/Chromebook to In Person
Answer: Although the student has their device, has been assigned a teacher, and invited to a class it takes time to be formally input into our computer system, please try to join the Google Classroom and virtual meetings but if you can’t, wait two days until going to your home school.

Question: What if there is a pop up asking me about “proxy setting?”*
Answer: Shut the Ipad off and then turn it back on. When the proxy setting “pop up” returns log in with your username@gstudents.org (example billyh@gstudents.org) and password which is your student ID. If it doesn’t take, try again. If you have tried at least 5 times and everything is spelled correctly, bring the Ipad to Desert Spirit tech service.

Question: What happens if I get an Error 311 code?
Turn your ipad completely off and back on. To turn the device off you must hold down the power button on the back right corner until the screen changes and then you have to slide to power off. You can NOT just click it. Once your ipad is turned back on click on the chrome icon and the proxy settings window should open up. Follow the instructions for the question above.

Question: What if there is a pop up from Google asking me to Sign In?*
Answer: Enter your username@gstudents.org (Example: billyh@gstudents.org)

Questions: What if there is a pop up with the GESD Logo?*
Answer: Enter your username without @ gstudents.org (Example: bhorstman) and your password/student ID.

Question: What do I do when I try to open the virtual meeting through the link or camera icon and it takes me to the internet (Safari) and opens a bunch of tabs/new windows.
Answer: Immediately close all the tabs and go to Google in Safari. On the top right of the Google home screen you will see if someone else is logged on or if you can sign in. Sign in using your school issued username and password.

Question: What if I can’t see my google classes?
Answer: Make sure you are logged in as YOU (not your brother or sister or parent). If you are logged in as YOU try

  • refreshing the page

  • closing the application and reopening

  • finally, turning the Ipad off and on. Upon turning the Ipad back on sign in if prompted. If your classes are still missing, join using your class code(s) which you can get from your teachers.
