RADLab: Relationships in Adolescent Development /

Race, Affect & Discrimination Laboratory

Welcome to RADLab! We are a largely undergraduate-run lab that emphasizes:

*harnessing the benefits of relationships to decrease risk for anxiety and depression

    * advancing research on effective emotion regulation to bolster resilience

*Increasing representation of marginalized groups in research:  examining systemic effects of discrimination to empowerment models.

Research Experience (3900) in the lab involves developing and working on (a) lab projects, (b) exposure to clinical psychology theories and interpretation of current literature, (c) professional development and (d) opportunities for students to develop, run, present and publish their own  individual projects as they develop their own programs of research. Dr. Stone is passionate about supporting her RA's as they embark on the next step in their career journey.

Warning: we are a nerdy bunch! Many of our studies include psychophysiological assessment of emotion regulation. This means research assistants learn how to collect physiological data (electrodermal activity; impedance; respiratory sinus arrhythmia) with Mindware technology, clean and process, and interpret. All in addition to typical self-report methods of emotion, environmental stressors, and interpersonal factors. We are a BUSY lab. RA's receive extensive training, and are held to high standards for participation (with encouragement and support).  Students are only accepted into the lab after rigorous interview. Lab Director

Dr. Lindsey Stone  (she/her/hers)

I hail from southern WV.  I'm a huge movie dork, vegetarian, proud cat-mom.  I strongly believe in social justice and work to be a better ally to marginalized and under-represented groups.
