Dr. Daniel Gleason is the director of the the James H. Oliver, Jr., Institute for Coastal Plain Science (ICPS). The ICPS studies the fertile world of Georgia’s Coastal Plain which covers the southern and southeastern half of the state. This environmental region provides researchers with a living laboratory where forests, rivers, marshes, swamps and beaches abound with life.
Georgia Southern University resides in this laboratory and its faculty and students strive to understand the region’s physical and biological resources in order to find solutions for their sustainable use and management.
The ICPS also manages several degree programs, including a BS in Sustainability Science, a MS in Environmental Science (to begin Spring 2023), and a PhD in Environmental Science (to begin Fall 2023).
