38th Annual Conference
December 14 - 16, 2021
Immigration, pandemics, and climatic change have demonstrated the porous nature of national borders and the need for greater international cooperation. However, xenophobia, vaccine distribution, economic inequity, and border disputes have also exposed hierarchies of power. As this year’s Global South Studies Conference will take place virtually, we will further consider the ways in which borders are both physical barriers, but also permeable in terms of public health, technology, and ideas. We also encourage participants to consider the ways in which technology both removes and creates barriers.
