GOAL/Objetivo:
The goal of the ESOL language instruction educational program for EL students is to increase both English language proficiency (ELP) and academic language proficiency in content-area subject matter. Successful ESOL language programs focus on collaboration and shared accountability for the success of all EL students.
El objetivo del programa educativo de instrucción del idioma ESOL para estudiantes EL es aumentar tanto el dominio del idioma inglés (ELP) como el dominio del lenguaje académico en la materia del área de contenido. ESOL Eligibility Process/ Proceso de Elegibilidad de ESOL:
Administer the Home Language Survey/Administrar Encuesta de Lenguaje del Hogar.
If the survey indicates that the child speaks a language other than English, an English test / grade level appropriate ELP is administered/Si la encuesta indica que el niño(a) habla otro idioma que no sea el inglés, se le administra una prueba de inglés/el evaluator ELP apropiado al nivel de grado.
The student qualifies to receive ESOL services if their English proficiency is low on the assessment. We follow the eligibility criteria of the state ELP (English Language Proficiency) assessor to determine if the potential EL qualifies for EL status/El estudiante califica para recibir servicios de ESOL si su dominio del inglés es bajo en la prueba. Why Accommodate/Por qué tener acomodaciones?
ELL students should be provided equitable access to the curriculum through the use of accommodations/ Los estudiantes ELL deben tener acceso equitativo al plan de estudios mediante el uso de acomodaciones.
Students receive accommodations to/ Los estudiantes reciben acomodaciones para:
1. help them understand the content/ ayudar a entender el contenido
2. help them complete assignments or homework/ ayudar a completar las asignaciones o tareas
3. help them improve their English/ ayudar a mejorar su inglés
4. help them feel included and comfortable/ ayudar a sentirse incluidos y cómodos
A few of the accommodations offered include/ Algunos de las acomodaciones que se ofrecen incluye:
Small group/ Grupo pequeño
Explain or paraphrase directions in English/Explicar o parafrasear instrucciones en inglés.
Repetition of directions in English/ Repetición de instrucciones en inglés
Extended time/Tiempo prolongado
However, based on state guidelines, the testing committee must determine if the student qualifies to receive any accommodation after examining WIDA Screener or ACCESS scores along with other academic data and teacher recommendations .

Students take the ACCESS test to determine if they are ready to exit the ESOL program/Los estudiantes toman la prueba de ACCESS para determinar si están listos para salir del programa ESOL
