Cemeteries are an important part of our culture and history. Help preserve the artistic creativity of the monuments and the historical and cultural significance of the individuals for future generations.
During this service learning opportunity, service learners will take photos of grave markers (IOOF Cemetery) with the BillionGraves app which marks each gravestone automatically with a GPS location and preserves the historical information. We will then transcribe the data, which will be plotted on cemetery maps, and made readily available at BillionGraves.com for free for millions of families around the globe for generations to come. This is a preservation project with the approval of Georgetown Parks and Rec (weather and service permitting) I look forward to seeing you on June 8th!
