Timeline: By the end of your junior year, you should have a list of approximately 5 colleges to apply to. This usually consists of 1 "safety" school, 2-3 "match" schools, and 1 "reach" school.

Timeline: Strive to have resumes and college essays completed before the start of senior year.  Letters of recommendation can be requested from faculty members and community members anytime during your high school career.

Letters of Recommendation
Letters of recommendation from teachers, school counselors, and other sources can help college admissions officers get a more complete picture of applicants. 

Timeline: Most applications open by August 1, senior year. Application due dates vary by institution. Please check individual websites for specifics.

Application to Austin Community College 

Timeline: Request for your transcripts and test scores to be sent immediately after you submit your application.

Send your EVHS Transcript
Students must request your EVHS transcript to be sent to each college they apply to. Click the link above for instructions.

Send your SAT/ACT scores to colleges
Many colleges are "test-optional" this year, so only send your SAT/ACT scores if they support your application.

Starting Fall 2025: UT Austin Requires  ALL students to submit SAT scores

**Many colleges  that have engineerign require a minimum 620 Math SAT to be accepted (at time of application) ....UT Austin and University of Houston are two  common colleges. Please make sure to view all requirements  by end of Junior Year so you do not miss any information.
 

Timeline: After the application is submitted. 

Monitor the status of your applications
Within 72 business hours of submitting and paying for your application, you will receive an email from the university to set up an account to monitor the status of your application. Make sure to create an account and log in frequently to know if you are missing any materials.  

 
Apply for Institutional Scholarships
You will also have access to institutional scholarships once you submit your application. Make sure to complete, as these are the largest source of scholarships. Students should visit each webpage to apply for institutional scholarships once they have submitted their college applications. Each college has specific deadlines and instructions for its institutional scholarships. Some are listed below. Please visit the college website if the info is not found below.
