Music

Many teachers are posting resources specific to current curriculum and content through their established lines of communication (Schoology, portal, email, etc). Please refer to those resources first. The materials and resources linked below are for general student engagement and enrichment.

Mr. Blackman is posting resources and lessons for his students in his Schoology courses. Here are several resources for any student interested in completing a music project!

Incredibox - Try and make an original beat

If you're bored and want to create your own music, incredibox is really easy and fun to use. There is an app for iPad, but you can also access through a laptop or desktop at www.incredibox.com

Here's a quick demo video:

Try creating your own beat. There are all sorts of options, so try different things and see what you come up with. This is not a graded assignment, but I wanted to give you something that could be fun and allow you to create music away from the classroom.

Soundtrap

Soundtrap is an online music studio. If you've ever used garageband for mac, it is very similar. First you have to create a free account and then you can explore all of the studio options. They have a loops library, a beatmaker drum machine, online synthesizers, and more. Soundtrap also gives you the option to collaborate on a project with someone else (think like a shared google doc, but with a music recording). Try it out. It's really fun!

Chrome Music Lab

This is a resource that is more user-friendly than Sountrap. This is if you just want to play around and experiment with a bunch of different music tools. It is so fun to just play around and see what you can create. Chrome Music Lab allows you to just jump right in and create!

Musictheory.net

Musictheory.net is a great online resource if you're looking to improve your music theory knowledge. They have lessons, exercises, and tools to quiz yourself. This would be a great thing to check out, especially if you are not very confident with reading music.

Teoria

Teoria is another music theory website. Much like musictheory.net, it has all sorts of tutorials, references, ear training exercises, and articles on music. This is for those who want to delve a bit deeper into reading music.

Stay tuned as I will be adding more resources as the days pass. I hope you check these out. There is something for everyone here.
