David Perez is a rising fourth-year medical student at Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he is a Sarah Stewart Scholar and Population Health Scholar. As part of his contributions to the Tercyak Lab, David leads the Skin Smart Campus initiative at Georgetown, implementing educational programming and managing sunscreen dispensers to promote skin cancer prevention across the university.
His broader research focuses on addressing health disparities in dermatologic care, including a federally funded project—Sun-safety for Outdoor Laborers At Risk (SOLAR)—which is developing a culturally targeted narrative video to promote skin cancer prevention among Hispanic outdoor workers. He also serves as the U.S. Medical Student Co-Director of UV&Me, a nonprofit dedicated to delivering skin cancer prevention presentations and resources to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. In this role, he oversees the operation of UV&Me university chapters nationwide. Building on these efforts, David volunteers as a Sunbassador with The Sun Bus, facilitating skin cancer screenings and education in at-risk communities across the country. David hopes to become a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon to serve underserved communities that often lack access to skin cancer education and face late-stage diagnoses.
