"CONCLUDING REMARKS"
Retreat Organizer: Dr. Jessica Jones
In order to maximize our limited time together, I need all of you to do some pre-work prior to the retreat. Please send all deliverables directly to Susan (e-mail: Sgseber@outlook.com) BY NOON on MAY 29th.
Review the final workshop agenda (attached – ‘Agenda_6Jun2023.pdf’). You will see that each ‘Subject’ has a number associated with it. These numbers align with the ‘pre-work’ below.
Do the pre-work! Again, our day is packed and if everyone does this pre-work, it will maximize our time together. The numbers below refer to the Agenda items.
A. Read ‘The Four Obsessions of an Extraordinary Leader’ Summary.
B. For #3: Give thought to what is most important for the day. Be prepared to share it at the retreat.
C. For #5: Take the Four Tendencies on-line assessment through this link:
The Four Tendencies Quiz | Gretchen Rubin. At the end of the quiz, you will be told your predominant "tendency". Submit this directly to Susan.
D. For #6: Develop a draft Department of Biochemistry, Molecular & Cellular Biology vision, mission, elevator speech, and potential new name. To help with this, I have attached the Georgetown University foundational elements: vision, mission, and values.
Submit them directly to Susan.
Bring your cell phone and/or laptop. Our day includes opportunities for real time online feedback gathering and reporting out.
We will be diligent with our ‘start and stop’ times. I encourage you to arrive at 9 am to take full advantage of light morning refreshments, networking, and a fun kick-off activity. At a very minimum, make sure you arrive well in advance of our 10 am start time.
The dress code for the day is casual.
If weather permits, a hike is planned after the formal portion of the day is done – so bring your hiking boots and maybe a water bottle.
