Workshop Schedule
The workshop will be organized around several discussion sessions, each centered on one major challenge / opportunity. Each session will have a lead-off talk to introduce the field, give an overview and pose open questions. This will be followed by extensive discussions to identify the key issues and opportunities in the field.

Workshop Report
At the end of the workshop, a report will be prepared for NSF. Bulk of the writing will be done on Day 3 of the workshop, and completed shortly after the workshop. A suitably formatted version of the report will be submitted for publication as a review article.
Directions to Regents Hall, Bakers Scholar Room
Walking Directions: From the Key Bridge Marriott (Ft. Myer Dr.), proceed down the hill to the Francis Scott Key bridge. Be sure to cross the bridge on the left-hand side (against the direction of traffic flow). Once across the bridge, go straight across M-street/Canal road at the traffic light and walk up the hill with the cobblestone road (35th St.). Continue straight on 35th St. for three blocks and turn left onto O St. Continue on O St. until you reach the main gate of Georgetown at 37th and O Sts.
Go through the main gate and take the diagonal path to your right. Pass through a large brick square (called red square) and following the brick pathway to the left (you will pass Reiss Science Building on your Right). Continue on the brick pathway until you reach a street (Tondorf Rd). Proceed across the street cross Tondorf Rd. and go to your left. The entrance to Regents Hall will be halfway down the hill on your right. Once you enter the building go straight and then make your first left. The elevators will be on your left side. Take the elevator to the 5th floor and the Bakers Scholars room will be on your right. Plan on 20 -25 minutes walking for the trip.
Georgetown Shuttle Bus directions from Key Bridge Marriott: The shuttle picks up from the hotel front entrance every 9 minutes until 9:30am, then from 9:30 -3:30pm it runs every 30 minutes. Starting at 3:45pm it begins running every 7 minutes. It will pick up and drop off in front of the hotel entrance. Take the bus onto campus. When it stops at the bus depot on campus, then follow the directions on the campus map to Regents Hall. The bus will take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic to get to the bus depot. Then it is a 5-10 minute walk to the conference room.
Georgetown Shuttle Bus Directions from Other Locations in Rosslyn: Make your way to 19th St. and N. Moore St. The Georgetown University bus (called the GUTS bus) has a stop there. It picks up and drops off from this location every 10 minutes until 9:30 and then every 30 minutes from 9:30-3:30. At 3:45pm the shuttle picks up and drops off again every 10 minutes. Take the bus onto campus. When it stops at the bus depot, then follow the directions on the campus map to Regents Hall. The bus will take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic to get to the bus depot. Then it is a 5-10 minute walk to the conference room.
Georgetown Shuttle Bus Directions from Campus to Key Bridge Marriott: Please wait at the Rosslyn Stop at the Bus Depot on campus (where you get off coming to campus) and tell the bus driver when you get on the bus that you are getting off at the Marriott.
Taxi/Uber: If you plan to take a taxi from your hotel to Georgetown’s Campus – please use the following address: 37th & O Sts NW, Washington, DC. 20057. Once you arrive on campus, go through the main gate and take the diagonal path to your right. Driving in: We have made arrangement with campus parking to cover the fees for our workshop participants. Please come to the Southwest Parking Garage of Georgetown University (address: 3611 Canal Road, NW, Washington DC 20007), and provide the parking attendant with the name of the event "NSF Workshop". Follow campus map to walk to Regents Hall.
