Thurman Green III is a native of Pine Bluff, AR and holds a BA in Political Science from Philander Smith College, an M.P.A. from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and an M.P.S. from the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.
He is the District Family and Community Engagement Coordinator for Arkansas Lighthouse Academies where he focus on creating enriching opportunities for Scholars and their families. He previously served as the Policy and Community Engagement Associate at ForwARd Arkansas working on education initiatives with rural and urban school districts to improve student academic outcomes. In addition, he managed ForwARd’s community school model efforts. Thurman’s commitment towards the community school model is seen on a local, state and national scale where he represented Arkansas in those capacities.
He serves in various leadership capacities including Southern Region Vice President of the National Urban League Young Professionals, Legislative Committee Chair/Board Member of Adult Learning Alliance of Arkansas, and Third Vice President of the National Alumni Association for Philander Smith College, Inc. In addition, he is a 2019-2020 graduate of the Leadership Greater Little Rock Program through the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce. Thurman is also a 2021 National Urban League Emerging Leaders Program graduate. He is a Fall 2009 initiate of the Beta Chi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
