Aminah Kandar was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. With a deep interest in Middle East affairs, she attained a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service in International Politics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Qatar (magna cum laude). While at Georgetown, she acquired a Certificate in Arab & Regional Studies and wrote her honors thesis on the Role of Women in the Arab Uprisings. Her passion for research and human rights led her to work for the Centre for International and Regional Studies and with Georgetown University's “Qatar Longitudinal Studies of Transnational Families” research team. She participated in numerous academic and international conferences, and has traveled extensively for community engagement and conflict management programs in Lebanon, Rwanda, South Africa and Sri Lanka. With a deep belief that knowledge empowers, Aminah is currently completing the International Executive MBA program with HEC Paris in Qatar.
