The Clinical Shadowing & Mentorship Program (CSMP) is a nationwide initiative serving Associate premedical members of the SNMA. The program seeks to address and overcome the systematic barriers that interfere with success among pre-medical students who are underrepresented minorities in medicine (URM) by providing them with clinical exposure, culturally sensitive guidance, collective mentorship, research, and professional development training as they pursue medical school admission and careers as future physicians.
The CSMP is a 12-month initiative allowing a cohort of 50 undergraduate, graduate, post-baccalaureate and gap-year premedical students to gain a unique opportunity to learn from practicing medical professionals, where they receive individualized career guidance. Pre-medical participants will also benefit from direct group support & mentorship from current medical students. Our weekly Collective Virtual Shadowing series creates a pathway for students to understand clinical cases, providing more than 55 hours of virtual shadowing throughout the year. All pre-medical students will receive LIVE monthly workshops ranging from a variety of topics. This years program will also include a community service project and team research.
Our goal is to advance the Clinical Shadowing & Mentorship Program to become the standard for mentorship, providing high quality clinical shadowing (be it virtual or in-person) and cultural responsibility. Please take a moment to apply to be apart of our 2022-2023 cohort. Opportunities range from becoming a mentee, mentor or leader.
