AL-LIWAN CLUB

Al-Liwan Club is a Qatari-led student association, established in 2014, that is dedicated to promoting Qatar’s heritage and identity. The club strives on celebrating the local culture, language, and tradition by organizing events that promote such elements of Qatar’s heritage. More recently, our club has built a greater aim of celebrating the diverse international backgrounds within Qatari culture, in order to celebrate our diverse Hoya identities through the local culture in Qatar.

Joining Al-Liwan club and being an active member allows you to not only get in touch with the Qatari heritage, whether you are a national or not, but it enables you to connect to the Qatari history, culture, and the roots that made Qatar what it is today. Al-Liwan mainly organizes an annual national day celebration which entails a range of cultural performances and activities, allowing all GUQ students to submerge themselves within the local culture and celebrate it. As a member, you will be actively participating in the club through event organizing and team workshops that will encourage and educate our diverse community about Qatar's traditions and what it means to live in Qatar in these modern times.
