Tess Treinen Swake has been a Physical Therapist since 2011 and Assistant Professor at George Fox University since 2021 after spending seven years as a Traveling Physical Therapist. She is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and has expanded her practice area into Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. Her research focus is on pelvic health treatment techniques for active females and female collegiate athletes. She works Pro Bono at the George Fox University Physical Therapy Clinic treating pelvic health and orthopedic conditions. Tess serves as the Oregon State Representative and member of the Clinical Practice Guideline Steering Committee for the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy.
By the end of this talk, you will be able to:
Map the Basics: Point out the main parts of the male and female reproductive systems and explain in simple terms what they do for the body.
Know Your "Normal": Describe what a healthy pelvis feels and acts like on a daily basis so you can tell when something is working correctly or incorrectly.
Spot the Signs: Identify common "warning signs" or changes in the bladder or reproductive organs that mean it’s time to check in with a healthcare provider.
