Welcome to the GFU AI Services portal! We are excited to offer a range of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence tools designed to enhance learning, teaching, research, and administrative tasks across our campus. Recognizing the transformative potential of AI, we provide access to several platforms tailored to different needs and levels of use.
Currently, our AI service offerings include:
Gemini within Google Workspace for Education Plus: This powerful AI assistant is available on it's own page - gemini.google.com. Using the tools there you can create emails and documents and get help with your writing. The results can be exported directly into a Gmail message or a Google Doc. The Gemini web app is available to all employees and current students.
Gemini Premium for Education (Pilot Program): A select group of users are participating in a pilot program to explore the advanced capabilities of Gemini Premium for Education. This offers enhanced features and functionalities for more complex AI tasks.
On-Premise Open-WebUI/Ollama Server: For researchers and those interested in hands-on experimentation with open-source AI models, we provide access to an on-premise server running Open-WebUI with Ollama. This platform allows for greater control and customization for advanced AI exploration.
We encourage you to explore these resources and discover how AI can support your academic and professional endeavors. Please refer to the FAQs below for more information.
(Contact IT if you'd like to receive the actual Notebook!)

Using Gemini through our institutional services (the GFU account) means the same mechanisms used to protect and partition data within Google Workspace also apply to Gemini. Your data is not used for AI training. For more information, please see the Google Workspace Privacy Hub.
As with any highly sensitive, or regulated data, please contact IT at servicedesk@georgefox.edu for guidance. For situations where a contractual data sharing agreement may be insufficient to address the sensitivity of the data, a better solution may be our internal AI-Lab server where all data stays on the George Fox University network.
Please note that George Fox University does not have data protection agreements with other AI providers such as OpenAI/ChatGPT, Anthropic/Claude, or Apple Intelligence.
The first thing to remember is that using any AI tool outside of your George Fox workspace account will not be covered by the Data Protection we have using Gemini and NotebookLM.
