The Basic Zoom account (free version) limits a session to 40 minutes when more than two participants are in the session (e.g., faculty host plus one participant is unlimited, but adding one more participant activates the 40 minute limit). Anyone can set up a Basic Zoom account. 

The Pro Zoom account (paid version) eliminates the time restriction for 3+ participants. The university has a Zoom license for all staff and faculty. To activate your licensed Pro Zoom Account, take the following steps:

• • • • Go to login.georgefox.edu and sign in

      • Select the “Zoom” tile. It will open Zoom and your account will now be a fully licensed account.

You can always check the status of your account by logging in to Zoom Workplace, opening Settings, and selecting My Account.  If it does not say “licensed,” then follow the steps above. (If logging in from the web-based Zoom Dashboard, click on your user icon in the upper righthand corner to look for "licensed.")

If you currently have a licensed Zoom account, please make sure to update to the latest version. To upgrade, open the Zoom app and left-click on your initials in the upper-right corner of the app, then select “Check for Updates.” Install if available.

Breakout Rooms allow you to split your Zoom meeting in up to 50 separate sessions. The meeting host can choose to split the participants of the meeting into these separate sessions automatically or manually, and can switch between sessions to offer assistance at any time.

      • Breakout room participants have full audio, video and screen share capabilities
