The Advance Course entitled, “Space Based Technologies for Disaster Management with special reference to Flood” shall contain both theoretical as well as practical on following major points –
1. Introduction to the concept of Natural Hazards & Disaster, and applications of Space Based Geospatial Technologies for their study and management.
2. Developing understanding of different policy frameworks [e.g., Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR), United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs), National/ State Action Plan for Climate Change (NAPCC/ SAPCC)] contributing towards sustainable disaster management.
3. Concept and availability of Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) for space based Geospatial Technologies.
4. GNSS – Principles and applications with special emphasis on Disaster management.
5. Efficiency and Use of Microwave Remote Sensing data for near real time Flood hazard studies.
6. Geo-statistical analysis of Natural Hazards with special emphasis of flood.
7. Use of Web GIS for Flood Hazard management.
8. Geospatial Modelling of Flood Hazards.
