Discovery of molecular functions of genes in a wide variety of biological processes is important yet sophisticated, requiring talents as well as tools that can help scientists analyze cellular function with speed and accuracy. The high-throughput screening for functional discovery core facility aims to assist investigators in functional discoveries, target identification, as well as metabolic pathway explorations through the high-throughput investigation of huge structural and molecular space. Our core facility applies high-density experimental design with automated equipment to rapidly test thousands to millions of samples for biological activity in the model organism, or at the cellular, pathway, or molecular level.


Our core service is to provide integrated one-stop solution for designing and conducting functional analysis in a high-throughput format. Moreover, the molecular modeling and virtual screening service as well as the 2 million GRC compound collection will be provided within the core facility. The high-throughput screening system can be applied to various research designs, such as functional validation of engineered/designed proteins, identification of disease targets and small molecules with desired activities, etc. The core will also provide services for operation of high-throughput instruments and high-speed fractionation of natural product extracts.


The high-throughput screening for functional discovery core facility is dedicated to assist investigators in discovery, improvement, or alteration of molecular functions as well as elucidation of biological mechanism, leading to great success in academic and translational research.
