How Genesis Studios Came to Be

Productions are powerful. They build confidence, teamwork, and storytelling skills. But they don’t always allow the time or space for focused technique, repetition, and individual growth. Genesis Studios was born to fill that gap - not as a competitive studio, but as a supportive, intentional home for kids to truly learn.

Here, students train in dance, singing, and acting in an environment that values progress over pressure, curiosity over comparison, and growth over trophies. Classes are designed to complement theatrical experiences, not replace them - giving young performers the tools they need to feel more confident, prepared, and grounded both onstage and off.

At Genesis Studios, we believe that when kids are given the right foundation, encouragement, and time to grow, they shine — not because they’re competing, but because they’re becoming more fully themselves. Genesis Studios was created out of a simple truth we’ve seen time and time again: being in a show can only teach so much.

A Different Kind of Training Home

Genesis Studios was also created for families who love dance but are looking for something different from the competition model.

While competition teams can offer valuable performance opportunities, they often come with high pressure, heavy time commitments, and a focus on rankings and trophies. We saw many students who loved to dance but needed a space where learning, technique, and personal growth could come first.

At Genesis Studios, students train in dance, singing, and acting without the expectation to compete. Classes are intentionally designed to build strong foundations, healthy technique, and confidence through consistency and thoughtful instruction - not comparison.

This approach allows students to grow at their own pace, explore artistry, and develop skills that support both theatre and life beyond the studio. For many families, it’s a breath of fresh air: a place where kids can love dance again, feel supported, and truly learn.

Do you offer competition dance teams?

No. Genesis Studios is intentionally non-competitive.

We believe competition teams can offer valuable experiences, but they are not the right fit for every child or family. Our focus is on training, technique, confidence, and joy, without the pressure of rankings, trophies, or constant comparison.

Is this a good fit for students coming from competition studios?

Yes, and for many families, it’s a welcome change.

How is Genesis Studios different from a traditional dance studio?

Our training is holistic-but with a musical theater tilt.

You might hear some musical theater classic tunes playing while your student learns a jazz combo, basic dance steps, and more. Rather than training dancers in isolation, we integrate:

Movement and musicality
Acting and character work
Performance skills and confidence

This approach prepares students to be well-rounded performers and thoughtful humans - not just dancers executing choreography.

Do students need prior experience to enroll?

Not at all.

We offer leveled classes and help place students based on age, experience, and comfort level. Whether a child is brand new or has years of training, there is a place for them at Genesis Studios.

Is Genesis Studios connected to Genesis Children’s Theatre?

Yes. Genesis Studios is an extension of Genesis Children’s Theatre, created to give students consistent, high-quality training alongside theatrical experiences.

While participation in theatre productions is not required to take classes, the skills taught in the studio naturally support and strengthen students’ work onstage.
