How UX Designers Collaborate with Software Engineers
"UX designers conduct user research, design, validate/test with user and sell/present the design solution to the business. It’s the UX designer’s role to be the voice of the user and advocate for the users needs while balancing the business goals.” (source)
“data scientists help organizations to solve vexing problems. Combining computer science, modeling, statistics, analytics, and math skills—along with sound business sense—data scientists uncover the answers to major questions that help organizations make objective decisions.” (source)
“A software engineer uses computer science principles to develop software solutions that will satisfy the wants and needs of businesses and consumers. Software engineers create many types of solutions such as desktop and web applications, mobile apps, games, robots, operating systems, network systems, etc. They do so using programming languages, frameworks, databases, servers and other technologies to turn an idea into a final product.” (source)
Start thinking about project ideas before the first day.
Make sure your project is focused.
You may have a great idea for a prototype that requires you to learn a totally new skill. Don’t let that scare you! This will be an amazing time to speed-learn a new skill.
Communication is key! Try using Discord, Slack, Whatsapp, or another group messaging platform, as well as video calling.
Designate someone as the product manager or leader, and make a game plan before starting on your project.
Document the process. Take screenshots of initial ideas or have a friend or relative take some photos of you while working.
Build a pool of resources to spark inspiration.
Learn about each other’s interests and skill set.
Eliminate formats you’re not interested in.
Think about the project scope and what you can build in a month.
Remember that the product doesn’t need to become a startup.
