Weekly Summary

Grade 6

English

Summary of learning - Students discussed how writers used the features of language to create meanings. They also explored the use of punctuation and vocabulary for effect.

Tasks to be completed - Read the passage ‘The River Gypsies” which was discussed during the lesson this week. Comment on how the writer had used language features to create different meanings.

Maths

Summary of learning - Mental calculations. Adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers.

Tasks to be completed - Review notes taken during lessons. Complete the exercises from classwork.


Science

Summary of learning - Students learned how to differentiate between plant and animal cells. They learned how to draw scientific diagrams of their structure and describe the functions of the organelles they contain. Students learned how to observe cheek and onion cells under the microscope and were briefly introduced to specialised cells.

Tasks to be completed - Students should complete the structure of plant and animal cells tasks that have been assigned from their workbook. More information has been shared on their Science Google Classrooms.
