Dear Parents,

Ramadan Kareem.

We are now at a very crucial stage of the year when our students will be sitting their Progress Tests. These standardised tests are an important measure of attainment in the core subjects; English, Math and Science. The results from the progress test can help teachers, students and parents in a number of ways:

· To assess your child’s knowledge, understanding and application in core subjects

· To track the progress of your child year on year

· Indicate possible gaps in learning

Your child should have started preparing for these tests in their lessons already. However, as parents you can help them by discussing about the importance of these tests. Most students find the test quite lengthy and tend to avoid reading the questions. Encourage them to read questions aloud and at home and check for their understanding by getting them to explain the meaning to you. Try some quick mental math games while you are waiting for dinner to be served at the table with your family. This will help them on the mental math section in the Math Progress test.

Here are two quick videos from the science department on some key skills that are included in the Science test. Do watch this with your child. Send us some feedback about these videos and let us know if you found them useful.

You can also find some PTS practice tests in Google classroom. Good luck and have a great weekend.

Thanks,

Ms. Rhea Marina Lawrence
