Dear Parents,

It has been over a year since the term “Corona Virus” first entered our vocabulary and changed our lives.

We have seen many changes as a result of this, new ways of living, social distancing, mask wearing. hand sanitizing. We have also had to adjust with your child’s mode of education, remote learning, face to face.

We cannot underestimate the impact of this change on our children. Used to mixing socially with their peers and teachers, having lessons delivered in classrooms with social interaction now seems like a distant memory.

As the covid 19 slowly dissipates and we gradually return to a new normal it is our job to ensure that students regain their confidence. They get used to the interaction that happens in school, writing on paper with a pen, working collaboratively with other students, answering questions in front of the class. This will all take time and it will happen slowly, but with this week partial re-opening of school the clouds have begun to clear.

Term 3 is a very busy time for the whole school, as well as the traditional celebrations of Ramadan and the reduced school timings, we move into the external examination season. Again, this year there is further disruption with only one (Cambridge) of the three examination boards hosting external examinations. Teachers are busy collating evidence to ensure that predicted grades for students are accurate and that students are prepared for the examinations that are taking place. I will finish by wishing you all a very peaceful and relaxing break, I look forward to actually seeing you all again soon at school during Term 3.
