With the completion of the third week, we are settling into our new routines. New friendships are formed and new and creative ways to learn are created everyday. We love to see the "smiling eyes" of everyone around the school.

Students at GIS can elect for 100% remote learning. In this case, PYP students are allocated to a remote class with an identified teacher. This teacher accepts full responsibility for the teaching and assessment for this student.
In certain situations, students are required to or elect to quarantine for up to 14 days. In these cases, students remain the responsibility of the homeroom teacher. Some of the online classes are available to these students and all learning tasks are submitted to their own homeroom teacher.
If your child is not able to come to school and you have specific questions, please reach out to your child's teacher for more information.

Last week we highlighted the 5 groups of skills developed throughout every single grade in the PYP. These skills help differ the PYP from a more traditional educational model that holds in higher value the simple transmission of content from teacher to student.

Knowledge remains an important aspect of the PYP and it is developed through 6 broad concepts. Concepts provide a way for students to organize their learning. Content/information is simply about facts, however concepts allow students to make sense of the facts to better understand the extensive information around us.
