Week Six - October 3rd, 2025
Head of Secondary School's Message
Dear Parents & Guardians,
As we continue to settle into the rhythm of the school year, I want to take a moment to share some important reminders and updates that will help ensure consistency, safety, and success for our students.
Punctuality Matters
Please ensure that your child is at school and in lessons on time each day. Arriving late not only cuts into valuable learning time, but also sets habits that can carry into later life. Punctuality is a skill of responsibility and respect that shows commitment, builds discipline, and prepares our young people for the expectations they will face in university and the workplace.
Student ID Badges
Students are required to wear their ID badges at all times while on campus. This is an important part of maintaining safety, security, and belonging within our community. Thank you for helping us reinforce this expectation.
School Uniform
All students are expected to wear the full and correct school uniform. You can find the details and purchasing information HERE. Wearing the uniform with pride not only ensures fairness and consistency, but also fosters a sense of unity, belonging, and identity as part of our GIS Secondary community.
School buses and afternoon pick up
Please remind your child that buses leave promptly at their scheduled times. If a student is late to the bus, it may depart without them, and in such cases parents will need to arrange collection. Arriving on time ensures smooth routines for everyone.
Secondary Learning Conferences
We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Secondary Parent Teacher Conferences (PTCs), which will be held online:
Monday 13th October and Tuesday 14th October
8:00am – 4:00pm (both days)
These conferences are a vital opportunity to connect with your child’s subject teachers and to reflect on their progress and achievements. We strongly encourage students to join alongside parents.
Please note: as all teachers will be engaged in conferences, there will be no school for Secondary students on these two days.
Use this link to schedule meetings with your child’s subject teachers:

The deadline for sign-up is 5pm on Friday, October 10, 2025.
Teams links for each teacher will be shared with you 2 days before the conferences.
Final Thought
At GIS we often remind our students that success is built on the little things, the detail. Being on time, wearing the uniform correctly, showing up prepared; these details grow into the bigger qualities of responsibility, pride, and resilience. Together, as parents and educators, we are shaping not just learners but future leaders, and every small step matters. Please support your child by making sure they learn to focus on the details.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership.
Warm regards,
Aaron Kane
