Week four - September 24th 2020
It has been another fantastic week at GIS with students fully engaged in their learning and routines for the year. It is hard to imagine we are about to approach the final week of September which also signals the completion of our first month of school.
The joy, creativity and determination of our PYP learners has been evident throughout the first weeks of school. The care and dedication of our teachers while connecting with a new class has remained central to this important work for the beginning of the school year. Building our learning community has taken on a different approach this year as we seek creative ways to connect across classrooms and with students and families learning from home.
We are proud to be a part of such a strong, dedicated and caring community #WeRGIS
Our transitions for drop off and pick up continue to get smoother as the weeks go by. A few reminders below:
Please use correct gate (Red/Green=gate 4 and Blue/Yellow- Gate 8)
Parents are not permitted to be inside the toilets or school during pick up (exception of reception areas Pk-G1)
Please make every effort to socially distance while waiting
Elementary students are dismissed and supervised as a group, and wait at the entrance for secondary siblings
Doors/Gates open at 2:30 and 1:00 (Tues)- Gates are closed by 3:00 or 1:30 to ensure proper supervision of children
If you need to pick your child(ren) up outside of regular dismissal time, please visit front reception with proper ID.
Assessment practices in the PYP can be broken into 3 broad areas ("For", "Of" and "As" Learning). The chart below from the IB gives a brief overview of these assessment practices, which comprise both internal and external student assessments. We use this data to inform learning and teaching at GIS.
