Week Thirty Six - June 16th, 2023
Developing students self-advocacy skills is one of the key aims of the inclusion support team here at GIS. Going beyond that, to the point where you not only advocate for yourself but you advocate for others, is to be commended. Yara Aboualy, our Head of the Student Inclusion Committee, does just this in a thought provoking and articulate manner in an article published in Which School Advisor. If you read anything today, we encourage it to be this:

It is nearing the end of term and the Inclusion Support Teachers and ELL Teachers are busy with the end of year target reviews, meetings with parents and handing over to the new teachers in the next grade. We encourage all parents to join the requested meetings so that we can collectively celebrate the students progress and achievements, and to ensure that we have the best possible provisions in place for the start of the next school year.
We are always seeking to develop our home-school connections, and this week Alina Khairetdinova, our Grade 2 ELL Teacher, delivered a session about the PYP Curriculum in Russian. There was a great turn out and we hope that parents found the session informative and helpful.
