Week Three - September 13th, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians,
This week our ECAs and squads commenced and it was wonderful to see so many students participate. There is a vast array of ECA choices on offer that cover the Arts, Academics, Sports and Culture, certainly something for everyone. So if you haven’t signed up yet, there are still offerings available should you wish for your son or daughter to be involved.
As we settle into the school year, I take this opportunity to kindly remind you of the importance of ensuring that your child wears the correct school uniform each day. Wearing the uniform properly promotes a sense of school pride, unity, and discipline. It also helps reduce distractions and creates a focused learning environment for all students. We ask that you please check that your son or daughter wears:
the GIS cardigan, jumper or zip-up jacket (no hoodies allowed)
correct footwear - plain black (slides are not appropriate)
trousers that are navy. Tracksuit pants, leggings or trousers that are black in colour are not appropriate
Your support in this matter helps maintain our school’s high standards and contributes to a positive atmosphere for all students.
I would like to draw your attention this week to our Wellbeing page, which can be accessed through the icon below. Ms Alisha and Mr Lewis update this page regularly with important information and tips related to wellbeing. Other useful information can be found by navigating the links at the bottom of this page.
Our Grade 10 students have recently embarked on their Personal Project journey and have already been introduced to their assigned supervisors.. This week, many parents attended the Personal Project ConnectEd session, led by Ms. Sandy and Ms. Sangita, gaining a clearer understanding of the project requirements. The Personal Project provides valuable preparation for the independent study skills essential for success in Grades 11 and 12, making it an excellent foundation for our students. I look forward to seeing our Grade 10’s navigate this journey in coming months.
Finally, this week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our Grade 8 parents to campus for the annual Potluck gathering, bringing the community together. Our Grade 8 students were excited to introduce their parents to new friends while enjoying a variety of delicious cultural dishes. A big thank you to Miss Alisha, Ms. Marie-Claire, and the Grade 8 Homeroom team for organizing this wonderful event!
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Kind regards
Ms Amanda
