Week Twenty Six - April 19th, 2024
Grade 11
Year 11 Creative Media students were asked to design a cover page and two- page spread for Time Out Magazine. The target audience was adults aged 18-25. The goal was to inspire this group to eat out, visit exhibitions and other events in Dubai. The students used their creative thinking skills to design eye-catching layouts that effectively communicated the vibrancy and diversity of Dubai's culinary, fashion and cultural scene. Through their designs, students showcased a keen understanding of the target demographic's interests and preferences, employing bold colors, dynamic imagery, and engaging typography to capture attention and convey a sense of excitement. Additionally, students demonstrated proficiency in graphic design software and layout techniques, honing their technical skills while bringing their imaginative concepts to life. The project provided an opportunity for students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. Overall, the week's activities yielded impressive outcomes, with students producing professional-quality work that reflects their growth and accomplishment in the field of creative media.
Grades 6-12
GIS Islamic department oraganized a wonderful initiative for a food drive, this Ramadan. With the generous donations from the community, we were able to pack 136 big food bags for our support staff, cleaners, bus drivers, canteen staff and security staff. Hosting a ‘’Food Bag Giving Ceremony’’to honor and appreciate our support staff during Ramadan was a beautiful gesture of community support and kindness. Moving the venue to the amphitheater and setting up a stage to specifically honor them added an extra touch of recognition and respect. It showed that their contributions are valued and acknowledged by the entire community. Our support staff will felt truly appreciated and uplifteded by this event. 9:30: Group photo with Mr. Simon
9:35 am: Mr. Simon welcome and appreciation speech
9:40 am: Miss Noma read the poem ’’The Unsung Heroes’’ for them
9:45 - 10:00 am: The support staff walked through the stage, shaking hands with Mr Simon and receiving their food bags from the students.
