Week Nineteen- January 27th 2023
Kim Conlin
Head of Primary
Dear PYP Parents,
It was business as usual here in Primary, despite the presence of KHDA inspectors onsite for 4 days this week. It is therefore no surprise that each and every one of the inspectors made a comment about the positive learning culture at GIS. It was highlighted that our students are active critical thinkers with extremely positive relationships with their teachers. The care and concern for each student is evident throughout the school. There will be no official report for a number of weeks, however the feedback was positive and a number of enhancements to the PYP curriculum and learning have been commended.
It's been a rare rainy few days and we want to thank our facilities and operations team for their diligent work to keep everyone dry and safe.
Thank-you for your understanding about the one week delay on report card publishing due to the inspection. Parent-teacher conferences will go ahead next week. You have received an email with further information on the conferences. Sign up can take place using this link.
Have a great weekend!

This week our KG2 students went on a field trip to the Butterfly Garden. They are currently inquiring into "Living things have needs in order to survive". They wanted to find out more about butterflies and how they live. Students came back with lots of information including explaining the life cycle of a butterfly. The students had the opportunity to look at the environment created for the butterflies including many tropical plants. As you can see from the pictures the butterflies were very interested in the children too!
