Week Eighteen - January 26th, 2024
Grades 7, 8 and 9
Image 1 shows an artifact almost at its completed stage following a week-long project for their Interdisciplinary Unit. Grade 7 students engaged in researching an upcycling project and producing an artifact using upcycled materials.
Image 2 shows a mechanical toy produced by a grade 8 student. It has a rotating motion designed to teach a child about mechanics, with weight added to the moving part to keep it steady. The toy was made and finished in a way where there were no sharp corners or edges, to ensure the child can enjoy using it safely.
Image 3-7 shows a range of lamps produced by grade 9 students. They are innovative designs, not typically found at home on a study desk or bedside locker. The students also learned how to create and connect a simple 3-way circuit, using a battery, switch and output source, such as a bulb or an LED.
Grades 11 and 12
In a collaborative initiative, DP 2 Computer Science student ‘Gleni Soni and Andreas Kikoloff’ enlightened Grade 11 peers on Computer Science Internal Assessments this week. Through live demonstrations, they intricately connected their individual projects to every Criteria Strand, providing valuable insights into their challenges and triumphs. The session served as an informative exchange, offering a unique perspective on navigating the complexities of Computer Science IA. As the seasoned students shared their experiences, Grade 11 students gained valuable insights, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject. The interactive showcase not only bridged the knowledge gap but also inspired future endeavors in the dynamic world of computer science.
Grade 7
This week, some students have been developing the skill of changing tenses using irregular verbs. All of them were fully focused and enjoyed the online games to enhance their progress.
