Dear Parents,
As we reach the end of a busy and rewarding term at GIS, I would like to take a moment to reflect on our collective achievements and thank you for the trust, partnership, and positivity you continue to bring to our school community. It has been a term filled with progress, purpose and pride.
Our senior students, in particular, deserve heartfelt congratulations. Their hard work, resilience and ambition have resulted in an impressive number of offers from leading universities across the world. We look forward to sharing the full list of destinations and success stories with you early next year. Their accomplishments set a powerful example for all our students and remind us about the significant role models they are.
We are also pleased to share that our new partnerships with King’s Hospital and Etihad Engineering will formally begin in 2026. As a first step, relevant students will commence a 10-week bespoke internship programme in January, offering invaluable real-world experience aligned to their pathways and interests.
Teaching and learning remain at the heart of our improvement work this year. Our new literacy and mathematics programmes in Primary are now fully underway, following comprehensive training in September. We look forward to sharing the impact of this work next term as we continue strengthening the quality, consistency and ambition of classroom practice.
One of the greatest joys this term has been meeting so many of you, whether through coffee mornings, webinars, individual meetings or informal conversations. Your insights and feedback are invaluable, and we will continue to offer a range of opportunities next term to ensure there is ongoing, open and constructive dialogue about how we can best support your child/children as they grow and progress at GIS.
In January, we will also begin a collaborative process to co-create and codify a refreshed GIS “Vision for Learning.” This will articulate what excellent learning looks and feels like in every classroom, for every child. Parents will play a central role in this work, and we will be inviting focus groups to join us as key stakeholders in shaping this shared vision. We look forward to your ideas, perspectives and partnership - so please watch this space for more details.
We have also conducted a review of our current communication systems and recognise the need for greater clarity, simplicity and consistency. As part of this, we will introduce new one-way WhatsApp broadcast channels for each grade level early next year, ensuring that parents receive important updates in a streamlined, reliable, and easy-to-follow format.
Finally, we are delighted to share that GIS has successfully achieved the Wellbeing Award for Schools, granted by Optimus Education and valid for the next three years. This award recognises our commitment to creating a school environment where student and community wellbeing is prioritised, embedded into policy and practice, and continuously strengthened through meaningful action. Thank you for your support in helping us build a culture where every child feels safe, valued and able to thrive.
As we conclude the term, please accept our warmest thanks for your support, engagement and partnership. We look forward to welcoming your children back in January for another term of learning, growth and opportunity.
We are looking forward to welcoming you back for Term 2 on Monday, 5th January, and wish you and your families a restful break and a joyful holiday season.
Best wishes,
Nevita Pandya MBE
