In November, Grade 10 students undertook a comprehensive exploration of several organic compounds, designing and engaging in experiments that showcased their scientific prowess. Their endeavors included creating a biodegradable polymer glue, synthesizing esters with varied scents from several alcohols and carboxylic acids, and measuring energy released during the combustion of alcohols with differing carbon-chain lengths. Additionally, they delved into biomolecules by constructing 3D models and creating informative posters to illustrate the significance of distinct functional groups in both chemical and biological contexts. The students' dedication and ingenuity throughout these experiments underscored their commitment to scientific inquiry and the interdisciplinary nature of chemistry and biology.
