Week Thirteen - December 1st, 2023
Dear Parents,
I wish you the best at the end of a busy week. I am so proud of the way our staff and students performed during the KHDA inspection and I shall send you the report as soon as it is confirmed and published. Whilst inspections are important, we still maintain our focus on our students, their wellbeing, and our teaching and learning, no matter how busy we are, and the team did just that this week.
Ms Sam and Ms Helen delivered a ConnectEd on Reading in Early Years, which was informative and engaging, from phonological awareness to how parents can support at home. Please do contact Ms Sam or Ms Helen if you’d like to know more.
I was delighted to welcome Safiya S (Grade 3) to my office on Wednesday to celebrate her two medals won in the international rhythmic gymnastics competition (UAE Cup 2023). This took place in Dubai and included over 700 participants from many countries. Safiya gained second place in ‘performance without apparatus’ and third place in ‘performance with a ball’. We congratulate Safiya and wish her continued success in this demanding sport.
One of the week’s highlights was of course the National Day celebration, honoring our host country and engaging in cultural activities related to UAE. I would like to thank all involved, particularly our GIS parent Ms Alyazia for all her hard work and liaison, and Mr Harry from our leadership team for his overview. Well done to student performers. The day was rich in culture, respect and community spirit.
Just one more mention of the GEMS parental survey. May I nudge you if you haven’t had the chance yet? It should be on your email with a personal link. If you cannot find this, please contact our IT Team on itsupport_gis@gemsedu.com
Kind regards and have a good weekend,
