SPCA Presentation on Monday, November 27th!  An email and notice was sent about this special presentation!

November 2, 2023.

I hope you all had a great Halloween!  I just wanted to touch base with information about things happening in our classroom.  Today, we will have vision screening.  On Monday, we will have an educator from the SPCA visit our classroom to deliver a presentation called, "Making the Right Choice".  Here is some information about what will be covered:

Key Questions: What do animals need to be happy and healthy? Do all animals want to be pets? Can all animals have their needs met as a pet?

Big Ideas: Exploring stories and other texts helps us understand ourselves and make connections to others and the world. Questioning what we hear, read and view contributes to our ability to be educated and engaged citizens. Living things are diverse, can be grouped and interact in their ecosystems. All living things sense and respond to their environment

On Friday, November 10th, we will have our school Remembrance Day Assembly.  We will be making a wreath for the assembly next week.

There is no school on November 13th.

On November 14th we will be going to the downtown museum with Ms. Campbell's class.  Your student should have brought home a yellow permission slip.  We will need some parent volunteers to help out on this trip.  We will leave the school around 10am and be back by 1pm. The bus will be squishy with two classes so we are hoping parents can take their own vehicles or carpool.

In the classroom, we have been talking about the power of wind and water, weathering, erosion, and landforms.  In math we have been developing number sense, constructing numbers and understanding place value, rounding and estimating.  We'll begin patterns in the coming days.  We began our EASE program (Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educators) and have started learning volleyball skills.

We are adjusting to school routines and students seem to be comfortable in their new class space.  Students should line up on the outside wall at 8:25am when the bell rings.  From 8:25-8:35, students get settled inside, get their chair and pencil for the day, and show me their agenda.  We begin lessons at 8:35. I dismiss the students at 2:40pm and they are expected to find their adult outside.   Just a reminder that there is no supervision outside afterschool!

Be in touch with any questions or concerns.
