Immigration is the movement of a person or people to a different country with the intention of residing there permanently. The topic of immigration is highly covered in the media and extremely prominent in current events. Other topics such as, but not limited to, housing, homelessness, inequality, and citizenship all connect to and are related to immigration.
The Policy Institute is a 4-week summer program run by Georgetown Day School, where students learn valuable skills in advocacy, service, and leadership.
Waging Life: The Immigrant Experience is the longest-standing track in the Policy Institute. This summer, our group of 8 students from different schools and of various ages worked together to learn about immigration. We also learned about housing and homelessness and how these issues relate to the struggles of immigration. Throughout this program, we also participated in many service projects.Â
