Addressing Sexual Assault & Consent

What is the Policy Institute?

The Policy Institute provides participating students with a deep dive into a policy issue of immediate importance, and with a toolkit to take meaningful and effective action. In small, cross-grade-level tracks, fellows will spend four weeks learning about an issue using their hearts, heads, and hands.

About Our Track: Addressing Sexual Assault and Consent

The Addressing Sexual Assault and Consent track is a branch of the policy institute dedicated to exploring the complexity of consent and sexual assault issues at local, state, and national levels. The next coming weeks will be spent examining current laws, policies, and programs established to support survivors, advocate for rights, and prevent sexual assault. Members of the Sexual Assault and Consent track will then apply the knowledge acquired from discussions with survivors, conversations with organizations in the DMV dedicated to eliminating sexual and domestic violence, takeaways from documentaries displaying the intersectionality between gender, age, and race when coming to sexual assault, and more to design initiatives focused on addressing the existing needs of high school students around these matters.
