All GDNA programs rely on a positive and respectful atmosphere for all dancers, parents and faculty. We aim to provide a nurturing environment in which dancers can participate in the process of developing their physical, artistic and creative potential.
All ballet classes are based on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and American Ballet Theatre (ABT) National Training Curriculum. GDNA provide opportunities for all participants to enter examinations. The training directed by the syllabus develops body awareness and capabilities for expression, sensitivity to music and satisfaction that comes from mastering a goal. In the Graded Syllabus, character and free movement dances are introduced with the study of classical ballet dance. Pointe works are introduced in the Vocational levels.
Chinese Dance is based on the Beijing Dance Academy and provides opportunities for all participants to enter examinations. In this syllabus, the training is directed to develop coordination, listening skills and capabilities for expression and performance. Chinese folk dances are first introduced from Grade Four and on.
All jazz classes are based on the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) syllabus and provide opportunities for all participants to enter examinations. In the syllabus, the training is directed to develop stamina build up, develop quick responses through the use of fast movements, awareness of space and dynamics.
GDNA provides our performance students with an opportunity to perform and participate in different festivals and events throughout North America. All performances are voluntary and serve a greater purpose of cultural exchange for many communities. This program will expose dancers to a variety of dance styles. Dancers will establish a greater sense of their performance styles, increase social communication, building teamwork, develop public exposure, and respect for others.
