English Language Arts

Welcome to 6th Grade English Language Arts! This year, we’ll be using StudySync, a dynamic, standards-aligned curriculum designed to engage students with high-interest texts, meaningful writing tasks, and collaborative learning opportunities.

StudySync offers a rich blend of classic and contemporary literature, informational texts, and diverse voices from around the world. Through this program, students will sharpen their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while exploring big ideas that connect to real-world experiences.

What We’ll Focus On:

• Reading Comprehension: Analyzing fiction and nonfiction for theme, structure, character development, and author’s purpose.

• Writing: Producing clear, coherent writing in a variety of genres—narrative, argumentative, and informative.

• Vocabulary Development: Expanding academic vocabulary through context clues, roots, and word parts.

• Grammar & Language: Practicing conventions of standard English in both writing and speaking.

• Collaboration & Communication: Engaging in thoughtful discussions, peer reviews, and multimedia presentations.

Each unit in StudySync is built around an essential question and a set of diverse texts, encouraging students to think critically, cite textual evidence, and build meaningful connections across genres and topics.
