This year (2025) we participated in the annual Trunk or Treat at Waccamaw High School. The theme was children's movies and we chose Wall-e. We won 2nd place in the community voting.
We are invited to demonstrate our robot at the Pathways 2 Possibilities Career Expo held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center each year. This event brought 8th grades from all over South Carolina to explore career pathways. Our robot was used to promote robotics and engineering as a potential career path. The students got to experience driving the robot and were shown a little bit of Java coding.
As a team, we have taken part in out district tech fair to introduce young children to the world of FIRST. After our 2022 season was over we traveled from our high school to Waccamaw Intermediate school to show off our robot and the ideas of FIRST. There we met with the Georgetown High School Team (The Byting Bulldogs team 8137) and helped them troubleshoot their robot. Together we taught the kids how our robots worked and the kids were able to drive our robot!
Before the 2023 season, on November 18th, 2022, Waccamaw High School hosted a math carnival with the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Classes. At this activity, we showed our new members how to connect the robot to the controller, troubleshoot, and taught the other people in attendance about FIRST and our robot. We also used this as an opportunity to promote our team and gain new members.
