Dr. Christine Gleason is a Neonatologist and Pediatrician known for her research on the effects of drugs on the developing brain. She works at the University of Washington as the head of the Neonatology division and a professor of Pediatrics. She is also a research affiliate at the Center of Human Development and Disability and a Fellowship Training Program Director. Dr. Gleason holds the Alan Hodson Endowed Professorship in Pediatrics from the University of Washington.
During our conversation, Dr. Gleason spoke about what originally attracted her to medicine, and how it was a position she chose not because of her interest in STEM, but because of her draw to help people. She also spoke about her rise into academic medicine, being a catalyst in academic medicine at the University of Washington, and how she had the privilege of watching the program grow in gender diversity.
