Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What is the MLL Program?
A: The Multilingual Learner Program at Greenfield Central Community School Corporation supports students with limited or no English proficiency. The MLL Program helps to ensure that students receive supplemental linguistic support as they are acquiring the English language.
Q: Why does my child receive MLL Services?
A: Every student completes a Home Language Survey (HLS) upon enrollment. If another language is indicated on the HLS, the student is given a WIDA Screener (language assessment). If the student scores below a 5 on that WIDA Screener, he or she will enter the MLL Program.
Q: What do those services look like?
A: Each student will receive an ILP (Individual Learning Plan) based on his/her WIDA scores. Students receive scores in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and these scores help the teacher determine what types of additional linguistic support is needed. Parents will receive their student's ILP in the mail at the beginning of the school year.
Q: I have questions! Who should I contact?
A: Please contact the MLL Coordinator, Dawn Sonsini, at (317) 462-4491 x 41212 or dsonsini@gcsc.k12.in.us.

Google Translate can be used as a method of basic communication. Please note, this app works best for basic words and phrases and not for an intake process.
Home Language Survey:
All students enrolling in an Indiana school for the first time, including foreign exchange and preschool students, should be given the Home Language Survey.
File all Home Language Surveys in the student's permanent file.
