Connectivity

Connectivity -

Please help your student connect their device to your home wifi network if possible.

iPads can be connected to your home wifi network by

  1. Tapping the Settings icon (gray gear wheel)
  2. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on.
  3. Tap the name of the secure Wi-Fi network you want to join.
  4. Enter the password for the secure Wi-Fi network, then tap Join. If you can’t tap Join, then the password you’ve entered is incorrect.
  5. After you join the network, you’ll see a blue check mark next to the network and the wifi symbol in the upper-left side of your display.

Chromebooks (6th Grade) can be connected by signing into the Chromebook without internet access first. This can be done by opening the Chromebook and powering it on. A box should pop up that says “Network not available”. At the bottom of that box, click on the sentence "If you've already registered on this device, you can sign in as an existing user." Then, once you’re logged in offline, click on the user icon in the lower right hand corner, then look for the No Network or Wifi icon to click on, then select your network and type in the password.

Macbooks (GCJHS) can be connected by signing into the Macbook, then clicking on the Wifi icon at the top of the screen. Select your home network and type in password (if applicable).

After connecting the device to your home wifi, please have the student try to get to Google Classroom to ensure they have access to their learning platform. Notify your child’s teacher if you have any problems.

We understand that there are limitations in connectivity that exist.

Students will stay at home to learn, unless there is a need for them to come to school. There is also opportunities to visit local spots with free wifi if there isn’t any at home, such as Hancock County Public Library, Starbucks, McDonalds, and Lincoln Square.
