Camp Brave&Bold is a ropes course and community-based summer program designed for 13-17 year-olds. While this camp is designed to build belonging, community, and empowerment for youths across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, all are welcome! Camp Brave & Bold offers a unique approach to building confidence and connections through recreation, enabling all campers to offer and seek support to strengthen our communities.

Typical Friday
Theme/focus- Get to know you! Meeting our group and getting to know the challenge course. Structure of activities may differ from this schedule but will remain similar to this theme.
8:45-9:30 Drop off/Check-in, introductions
9:30-10:00 Icebreaker/energizer activity, ground initiatives
10:00-11:30 ROPES Challenge Course element(s)
11:30-12:00 Lunch
12:00-2:00 Walk or drive to a hike
2:00-3:00 Board games, arts, crafts, etc., at a picnic area
3:00-3:30 Transition back to HMHI
3:30-3:45 Pick-up/check-out
Registration for the 2025 summer camp will remain open until July 18th, 2025 or once capacity is reached.
The Brave and Bold Camp is based at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI). Each day will start on the HMHI ROPES Challenge Course behind the building. The camp also features several field trips around the Wasatch Front.

As your child prepares for their time with the camp, please be aware that we plan to be outside. Dressing in layers and anticipating the weather will add to your comfort and enjoyment. Please dress to be active in clothes and shoes that are comfortable and durable. Sun, wind, rain, heat, or cold can all be part of a day at camp – please be prepared.
What to wear:
Shoes: closed-toed with rubber soles. Tennis shoes are great!
Loose, casual, comfortable clothing that covers you and lets you move. T-shirts, longer shorts, and or long pants are all good choices depending on the weather and you.
Layer clothing for the weather and bring rain gear if it looks like rain.
What to bring:
Release form.
Facemask that can be worn appropriately.
Water bottle.
Lunch (we will provide a morning and afternoon snack).
Hat and sunglasses.
Swimsuit, towel, and sandals on water days. Consider goggles.
Bee sting kit (if your child is allergic to bees), inhalers , other medications.
Backpack for all of these items and any other items your child may need.
What to leave at home:
Jewelry and valuables – please remove jewelry before arriving to camp.
Rings, earrings, and necklaces can be broken and or pose a hazard to you or a peer.
Chewing gum.
*Participant cell phones are allowed, however, participants can only use personal cell phones during designated lunch or dinner breaks. Phones will be kept in the Pod backpack until the end of the day*
