UMPS: The Utah Message Passing System is a high-performance, low-overhead messaging system built ontop of ZeroMQ that allows computers to communicate over a network. UMPS is the core technology that allows for machine learning inference services at UUSS that are accessible to any computer on the network. Additionally, it allows us to build scalable detection services that interrogate all streams of incoming, telemetered data.
URTS: The increasingly inaccurately named Utah Real-Time Seismology system is our developmental seismic detection system that leverages many types of machine learning models. URTS will help us develop deeper and higher-quality automatic earthquake catalogs that would be of use aftershock and volcanic monitoring scenarios.
