ECQT2025

IV European Conference on Queueing Theory

Lisbon, 16-18 June, 2025  (new dates)

LISBON

Lisbon is the capital and largest city of Portugal. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful European settlements, being inhabited since the Neolithic period by Pre-Celtic tribes, and Europe's westernmost country capital city. Located on the right bank of the majestic Tagus River Estuary, it is only a few miles away from the Atlantic Ocean and Europe's westernmost point (Cabo da Roca).

Having a pleasant Mediterranean climate, Lisbon is a cosmopolitan city full of life and color. It possesses major historical archaeological sites and buildings dating back from Roman times. Particularly relevant are its: medieval monuments (Castelo and ) and quarters (Alfama and Mouraria); monuments associated to the Portuguese Discoveries (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, Torre de Belém, and Padrão dos Descobrimentos); the Baixa and Chiado downtowns areas rebuilt using modern urban planning in the XVIII century, following the devastating earthquake of 1755; and the modern area of Parque das Nações, built since Lisbon's World Exposition 1998.
