Future Workforce

  Career & Skills Development Day

About the event

We have been running this event for over five years with great success. The day is aimed at providing an opportunity for our students to become prepared for life during and after College, and the event has continuously evolved since it started, drawing on the valuable feedback we have had from employers and students.

This year we will be holding this event on Friday 17 May at our Delancey Campus.

During the morning we will be offering our students a chance to take part in a variety of practical and engaging CPD activities, e.g. how to change a tyre, basic cooking, how to be successful in an interview etc. In addition, we will be inviting a variety of agencies in such as the Youth Commission, Action for Children, Safer Guernsey and Liberate, to provide information and support in an interactive and creative way.

Throughout the afternoon session, we will be inviting employers to speak with students about vacancies, work experience opportunities and hear more about progression routes and career pathways. We will also be holding a session about hobbies, engagement with volunteering opportunities, employment rights and legislation relevant to them.

Our aim is to continue supporting our students to be active contributors to their industry workforce, our community and our island.

Students will not necessarily be in vocational class groups but will be able to attend sessions which they feel are most relevant to them and to their future progression.
